Making connections that matter

In this issue of MACS ACtion™ magazine, you’ll get a comprehensive report on the excellent technical training that was presented during our 2014 Training Event and Trade Show this past January in New Orleans. The training classes were an important part of this event, but they were not the number one reason attendees said they came. The primary reason people come to the annual MACS meeting is industry networking. It is all about relationships and making connections that matter.

There is a lot of information on the Internet, some of it is good and some of it is not so good. But as social media marketing specialist Ted Rubin (@TedRubin) says, “Conversation is the ultimate content.”

In the many years I have been attending the MACS annual Training Event, I have always come home with new ideas and much more enthusiasm and energy for my work based on the interaction I have with other MACS attendees. The return on my personal investment of time and money is repaid to me a thousand-fold by the “return on relationship” I bring home and put to work in my business.

We are all human. Humans need support, interaction and affirmation. The Internet is a great place to find information but it has to be used in the context of our real relationships with others. If you have yet to take the step to become a member of the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide, I challenge you to become a member now. It is one of the most important things you can do as we welcome the beginning of what we all hope will be a prosperous A/C service and repair season. The information you need about what is happening in the rapidly changing world of total-vehicle climate and thermal management will be readily available to you, and it will be accurate. You’ll also be able to make connections within the industry that matter.
