Team Toyota’s Parts, Service & Collision Center in Langhorne, PA recently hosted a MACS Section 609 Certification Class for 39 technicians employed at their Lincoln Highway location. The training material was presented by yours truly, who had an opportunity before class to check out their facilities. You may be thinking that since it’s a dealership, you already know what to expect when walking through the door. I know I did, but boy, was I in for a surprise!
As a technician who’s worked for and visited my fair share of dealers, I can tell you that Team Toyota’s service facility truly stands out from the crowd; and not just from a customer’s perspective, either. One glance down the shop’s service lane and you can tell that appearances matter to them. They pride themselves by keeping a neat, orderly shop.
Route 1 in Langhorne is well known throughout the region. This area has one of the highest concentrations of both new and used car dealerships in the state. Because of this one stop shopping, it’s common to see license plates from PA’s neighboring states of New Jersey and Delaware, but also from as far away as Maryland, New York and even Connecticut!
Many of these dealerships offer similar services and amenities to their customers, such as sales, service, parts and sometimes collision repair. As you would expect, there is often a waiting area for customers to use while their vehicles are being serviced. Team Toyota also has a waiting area, but it’s not like anything you might expect. In addition to three 60” flat screens and two dozen lounge chairs, they offer several eating tables and a few work stations with computers. There’s also a full service café next to their twelve seat theater, a quiet room and a separate kids play room (across the floor from the quiet room, of course!).
One of the best parts of traveling with your job is getting to see the different places where people work. This trip definitely had some wow factor, and Team Toyota’s facility is one I won’t soon forget. Same goes for the training; while the material might be the same from class to class, it’s the people that stand out and make the difference.
